Hi. To have a .ca domain name do you really have to be a citizen or resident of Canada or can anyone register?

By Yahoo User • Category: Trademarks Requirements

it? Wikipedia says Canada states these rules to have a .ca name & I want to know if it’s true:”Registrants of .ca domains must meet Canadian Presence Requirements as defined by the registry. Examples of valid entities include:a Canadian citizen of the age of majority, a permanent resident of Canada, a legally recognized Canadian organization, an Inuit, First Nation, Métis or other people indigenous to Canada, an Indian Band as defined in the Indian Act of Canada, a foreign resident of Canada that holds a registered Canadian trademark, An executor, administrator or other legal representative of a person or organization that meets the requirements, a division of the government, Queen Elizabeth II in her capacity as head of state of Canada”If anyone could help me out it’d be appreciated. Thanks.

  1. If it weren’t true, why would Wikipedia say it was so? Anyway, why would you want to have a “.ca” domain if you were not eligable to do so?

  2. you need to be a citizen or a business registered in Canada is the short answer.
