By Yahoo User • Category: Do I Need It To Trademark?please let me know as securing a ltd company is easy but as a sole trader what can be done. I want to open a new sole trader company as a travel agent and also launch a secure website for the business. please help me with what options do I have. thanks
You have to register the company name with companies house, they keep details of all registered companies.http://www.companieshouse.gov.uk
If you are planning to be a reputable travel agent, then you will need to be bonded / insured (to protect you and your clients from all the things that can go wrong with travel arrangements). In order to get your business insured / bonded, you will need to have a limited company. In order to get an ecommerce company to handle your secure on-line payments, you will also need to have a limited company. So I think you are well-advised to form a limited company anyhow, and that will take care of protecting your company name.
As a sole trader you trade as (for example) Joe Bloggs trading as World Wide Travel. You don’t need to register it with anyone except the bank when you set up the account and inland revenue so they can tax you- bastards!! Probably the most important thing is getting a name which you can also use as and secure a website with, ie www.worldwidetravel.co.ukHope this helps
