do the copyright laws for canada also apply in the USA? for software?

   Yes and no.US copyright laws are different than Canadian laws, and neither country can enforce their laws within the other country.However, both counties are signatory members to several international copyrigh treaties, which grant many reciprocal rights to copyright holders in those countries.

   All members of the World Trade Organization must honor the valid copyright and other intellectual rights of the home country representing the original author. Canada and USA are WTO members, and these agreements allow Canadians access to courts in the USA to prosecute their claims.
