Piracy and unauthorized copies of copyrighted products in Lebanon ?

By Yahoo User • Category: Copyrights in Malaysia

Pirate versions of virtually any copyrighted materials (business software, entertainment software, sound recording, or published interactive software such as encyclopedias or educational materials on CD-ROM) can readily be purchased in retail markets in Lebanon for US$5 or less. Piracy of personal computer (PC) games remains the predominant form of entertainment software piracy in Lebanon. It is believed that about 70% of factory-produced pirated entertainment software product is being imported from Asia, including from Malaysia, while about 30% is domestically sourced.Do you think the Lebanese government should impose civil, administrative, and criminal penalties under the current laws (including the Copyright Law) to deter the organized manufacturing and distribution of pirate product ?

  1. Nope, its enough everything is Damn expensive in lebanon, they also wanna increase CD’s .And if they do, many shops will illegally recopy the cds and send them illegally, we are going in a loop in here :D

  2. Oh you can find them for 2 USD but they are awful and I’d rather not watch them…they come from MalaysiaI think it’s Malaysia’s fault not Lebanon

  3. Maybe… But maybe there are more important things the world we have to worry about, after all, actors and musicians still get rich either way.Toushka

  4. Actually they do and I have never bought any pirated products from Lebanon, when ever I want something I drive just 5min and go to Virgin MegaStores which has everything.

  5. I know that the rights of the authors, actors, actresses, etc, have to be cared about, and it is ok that they do it. I dont copy anything, but I know of people that do it.Since things are on internet, do you think that someone could stop that? i’m not saying that is good that some pple do it, only that is huge and as a snowball…….it’s increasing each day more and no one will stop it. We have to re realistic ones.It is not only in Lebanon…it is all around the world. How could laws stop what anyone copies at home?I agree with you about the great organizations behind that, but dear, they move too much money and unfortunatelly who have to make law be respected are the worst. They accept money from that “mafias” and everything is covered.I know that what I’ll say is not fair……but as Toushka said……no one of the authores actors etc, etc, will become poor bcoz of that. You know? it’s not funny……but some days ago……b4 the premiere of the Oscar’s in LA, I have seen the pic that won The Departed. A boy has downloaded it and when he asked me if i wanted to watch it……….i ..of course replied yes.I know it was bad done…….but……….

  6. Did you say Lebanese government? where do you live Jerry?
