Do you take a criminal risk downloading occasional movies with torrent in Canada?

By Yahoo User • Category: Copyrights in Canada

I’ve just started using torrent to download movies. I realise this technically breaks copyright laws, but does anyone enforce them over small recreational downloading?

  1. no. don’t worry about it, just keep downloading.

  2. Yes, if is highly illegal to download copywrited material anywhere in the world!

  3. The police haven’t really caught up to bittorrent, and when they do, there will be something better out to use, so I say to keep using it. But don’t download so often because movie files take up a lot of hard drive space

  4. Not as big a risk as you take posting the fact you are engaged in illegal practices on a public forum like Yahoo!Answers, dimbulb!Copyright infringement is just theft, plain & simple. And what exactly is “small recreational downloading”? LOL!”I only stole a few dollars from the cash register, officer! It was just small recreational theft…”

  5. Do you have a reason why the police would be looking at your computer? Do you have someone in your household that would see Child Porn and call the police? Do you have an unsecured network, so an intruder can see that you are doing an unlawful act? Just maybe, by confessing here, that you have repented and will stop doing it. Or MAYBE, by your confession here, the COPS are on the way? Or MAYBE, you should turn yourself in. What is funny is that Nothing is Free! What I mean is, that by using those websites, you yourself become vulnerable to attack by viruses, spyware and such. When you get HIT, you’ve paid the price of what you could have BOUGHT. Don’t turn your back on these uploads. Watch for suspicious activities and unrequested transfers. Always CLOSE those download programs when you need to leave your computer.
