I want to start a clothing line. What first?

Of course research and read-up on the success of it. I would suggest taking business management classes at a junior college (cheaper) for some knowledge on business and extra fashion education. I’m not sure how great this is, but you could film some of your fashion at post it at youtube. Considering it’s high profile for a site, it should attract some people since it already has high traffic.Good luck!
First make you sure have an entire line of clothes designed, not just one or two pieces. The next step would be to make some. It’s great that you have a website set up. Do you want to sell them yourself or have them in stores? Or open your own store? Getting your business set up (trademarked name, having your business recognized by the state, etc.) is different in every state. I don’t know what state you are in, so just go to your state website and the guidelines will be there. Or you can go into your local courthouse, which is where you can pick up the forms and talk to the clerk. If you are going to sell them yourself I’d try eBay, craigslist, and websites like that. You can also pay to put up a banner (an ad) on other people’s website’s that will link to yours. If you want your clothes carried in stores you’ll need to contact the stores you want them in and set up meetings where you will bring your designs, samples, and prices, etc. Good luck!
if you are asking the first step of owning you own business,the answer is how are going to finance it?all that business bull comes later. when you have the finance set up, you can hire people to do all that.clothng line is very risky business. i am in the fashion industry my self and there is millions of other that have the same ideas and maybe more money than you that could support their ideas.find out how you are going to sell your clothing line first. who your customers are… then think about how you’re going to approch them with your line.making all your clothing line is not going to go any where when you dont have your customer base set up.good luck…
